Infusion Pump Flow Rates In Central Venous Catheters: Thrombus Reflux And Aspiration Clot
نویسندگان
چکیده
Aggressive infusion pump flow rates can lead to central venous catheter (CVC) occlusion resulting from thrombus reflux into the CVC lumen.
Methods: A single-center prospective comparative study was performed, including all consecutive cases of events in hematology oncology patients using a (Hickman® nº7) since August 2018 September 2019 (Phase 1), and October 2020 2) at Onco-Hematology Department Portuguese Institute Oncology (Porto). Two phases were described:
Phase 1: Observational period platinum-based regime (DHAP) undergoing continuous rate ≥ 200 mL/hr.
2: Intervention ≤ Results: Overall, 39 DHAP regimens reported with total number 43 occlusions identified (phase 1, n=28 vs phase 2, n=15). Occlusion risk associated between higher 1 n=11 n=3, RR 3.313 [1.010 13.863], ≤0.05). When aspiration clot (n=5) identified, always removed. No observed 2. Conclusion: increase lumen clot.

Central venous catheters.
Central venous catheterisation was first performed in 1929when Werner Frossman, a German doctor, inserted a ureteric catheter into his antecubital vein. He then walked to the radiography department so that the catheter could be guided into his right ventricle using fluoroscopy. Since then, central venous access has become amainstay of modern clinical practice. An estimated 200 000 central venou...

PURPOSE There are limited contemporary data describing the rates of catheter-related deep vein thrombosis (CRDVT) and central line-associated bloodstream infection for peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICCs) and centrally inserted central venous catheters (CICCs) in the medical intensive care unit (ICU). METHODS We performed a retrospective cohort study of 200 PICCs (dual/tripl...

incidences in the landmark group of carotid artery puncture (10.6%), hemothorax (1.7%), and pneumothorax (2.4%) greater than most anesthesiologists would accept. Thus it is not surprising that meta-analysis of these disparate studies (which have not been scored by traditional methods to assess for bias and scientific rigor) would find statistical significance only in success of line insertion. ...

The ideal frequency of nebulized 3% saline is unclear, though most studies have found multiple daily doses for several days to be effective as opposed to repeated inhalations over a short period [4]. This possibly can serve as a major advantage over inhaled epinephrine where repeated use can be limited by tachycardia and/or rebound mucosal edema. Ralston, et al. [8] in their study found a low r...
متن کاملCentral venous catheters: incidence and predictive factors of venous thrombosis
AIMS Central venous catheter access in an acute setting can be a challenge given underlying disease and risk for venous thrombosis. Peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICCs) are commonly placed but limit sites for fistula creation in patients with chronic renal failure (CKD). The aim of this study is to determine the incidence of venous thrombosis from small bore internal jugular (...
